Is S7 tool steel machineable by a HSM?

Dec 10, 2008· S7 is a very nice machining steel, and easy to heat treat. (with a furnace) The only caveat is as with any airhardening steel, you need to run the cutters sharp, slower sfm, and don't dwell or let it rub, keep it cutting. If you locally overheat the material, it can spot harden & ruin your tool.
